Virus Shield approached us with a common problem: their quoting and customer on-boarding process was too complicated, old-fashioned, and simply wasn’t working anymore. This difficult and frustrating quoting process that their sales reps had to go through was causing a massive bottleneck for the company, and they wanted a solution to it.
Craig, the company MD, asked us to build an app that would handle all of the quoting and on-boarding. The only problem was that the math and equations involved were extremely complicated, and turning them into a simple-to-use quote calculator within an app was going to be a challenge.

The development process for this app was not short. The app took a considerable amount of time to develop, and we are still working on it to this day. This is largely down to calculations changing, new products being added and more.
Working with Dan, the head of the calculations, we have accumulated a total of 7 revisions of every calculation on the app (there were 100s) due to product changes and additions.
The development process of the app itself also took some time, as we wanted to the app to look good on iPhone, iPad, Android and any other device. We also had to develop a secure and user-friendly web portal to staff to amend pricing.
We also integrated a feature where when a quote is generated, it automatically sends a PDF file of the quote to the relevant office.
A very important part of any app development project is how it is managed on the backend. For this project, Virus Shield needed a portal where staff could add products, amend pricing, view prior quotes, and more.
We developed a portal for staff to log into online to manage all of these elements. Once edited, the updates are sent directly to the mobile app in real-time.
While we are still in the early days of using and distributing the app to sales staff, it’s now complete. The final app finished up extremely well, and Virus Shield were over the moon with the results.
The user interface is easy to use and makes providing quotes and estimated costs for sales staff a breeze. This saves time and money for Virus Shield.
