A Clinic That Deserved More Than a Template

Clear Skin Radstock is a specialist cryotherapy and aesthetics clinic in Radstock, Somerset, serving clients across Bath, Frome and the Mendips. They treat everything from warts, verrucae, skin tags and pigmentation to laser hair removal, teeth whitening and non-laser Rejuvi tattoo removal.

They needed a website that matched the care and precision of the clinic itself, and one they could run entirely themselves. We designed and built a bespoke marketing website from scratch, then wired it into a headless CMS so every page is theirs to edit.

Calm Clarity: A Design With Warmth

The brand direction we set was "Calm Clarity": refined, editorial minimalism with a human warmth, built on a soft neutral palette lifted by a confident teal accent. Editorial serif headings in Fraunces pair with clean Inter body text, both loaded through next/font so the typography stays sharp without slowing the page down.

Throughout the site, subtle and consistent load-in animations, a fade with a gentle lift, give each section a sense of arrival, with a carefully sequenced hero reveal. The motion is performance-first and never distracting. The smaller details matter too: a sticky contact and call bar on mobile, smooth scrolling, accessible focus states, click-to-call and email, and an embedded Google Map.

Built on a Fast, Modern Stack

Under the surface, the site runs on the same modern stack we use for our bespoke builds: Next.js 16 with React 19 and TypeScript, styled with Tailwind CSS on a consistent design-token system for spacing, colour, type and shadow. We use React Server Components with selective client components, and a custom icon resolver that can pull any icon by name.

Every page is server-rendered and statically generated with incremental static regeneration, which means the site is fast for visitors and, crucially, content edits go live without a single redeploy.

A CMS the Clinic Fully Controls

The content layer is Directus, a self-hosted headless CMS. The site fetches its content at runtime through the Directus API, server-side, with the token kept well away from the browser. Every page is editable, with a clean architecture behind it: a dedicated collection for each page, a separate collection powering six dynamic treatment pages, and a global settings area for the things that appear everywhere.

Just as importantly, it is genuinely pleasant to edit. Sections are separated by labelled dividers, lists like FAQs, pricing tables and testimonials use simple repeater fields, and there is a "view live page" button on every page. We even built a small convention that lets the team emphasise words or add line breaks in headings without touching code. If the CMS is ever briefly unreachable, in-repo fallbacks keep the site standing.

Local SEO and Tracking, Done Right

Each page has its own editable SEO, the title, description, social preview and robots settings, managed in Directus and fed straight into Next.js. The content is optimised for local search around Radstock and the surrounding towns, so the clinic shows up where its clients are looking.

Analytics and compliance are handled cleanly too. Google Analytics, a Termly cookie-consent banner and Search Console verification are all managed from the CMS.
