A Family Trade, Brought Online
Boatswain Joinery has been making bespoke joinery since 1960. When Ben Sheppard took the business over from his grandfather, he inherited decades of craftsmanship but almost no online presence. He came to us to put that right: a website to establish the business digitally, and the campaigns to keep the workshop busy.
A Website Worthy of the Craft
The brief was a site that positioned Boatswain Joinery as the premium choice, not just another local tradesperson. We built it on WordPress for flexibility, wove in the brand colours, fonts and style, and kept the navigation simple with clear contact forms and calls to action throughout. Just as importantly, we told Ben's story, the grandson carrying on the family trade, because that heritage is what sets the business apart.
Built to Show Off the Work
Joinery is a visual craft, so we built dedicated project pages and galleries to showcase the quality of the work in detail. The whole site was designed to be easy for Ben to manage himself, and built from the ground up to support the SEO and PPC campaigns that would follow.
Pay Per Click on a Joiner's Budget
With the website live, Ben wanted leads, but as a one-man operation he had a modest budget of £300 a month to work with. That is exactly the kind of brief we like: make every pound count.
We researched the keywords and the competition in Semrush, then built tightly targeted Google Ads campaigns around the bespoke joinery work worth winning. From there it was a case of ongoing optimisation, trimming the waste and leaning into what converted.
The Results
The campaign delivered a cost per lead of just £11.84 over a 30-day period, and the leads were genuinely high quality. The return on that £300 budget has been remarkable: Ben is now booked for work throughout 2026 and is even considering taking on extra staff to keep up.
From No Presence to Booked Out
In the space of a few months, a one-man joinery business went from almost no online footprint to a polished website and a year of work booked in. That is what happens when the site and the campaigns are built together, each designed to make the most of the other, and it is why we are proud to keep working with Boatswain Joinery.
I had an exceptional service from Otis and the team. They listened to my requirements and delivered an amazing website that exceeded my expectations. I couldn't have chosen a better company to bring my vision to life. Without a doubt, I'll be returning to them for future projects.
